Najwa Al Abdallah – Head of Finance and Operations
Najwa has 19 years of senior management experience of international NGOs around the world. She has previously worked as an operations excellence practitioner and strategic planner, has experience in organisational development and assessment of NGOs, and is an associate member of the ACFE.
Najwa is a blogger, producing content that helps humanitarian and development organisations reduce corruption and fraud, and loves to express her writing skills in the form of poetry.
Dr Narcis B Kabatereine – MER Advisor: Sustainable Systems
Narcis has accumulated more than 35 years of experience in the control of NTDs. He develops field-based skills of programme implementers in sub-Saharan Africa. Narcis has assisted many African countries in training technicians, participated in drawing up their NTD plans of action and in designing their approach for integrated vector management.
Prior to joining SCI, Narcis served 8 years as Head of the Vector Control Division of the Ministry of Health in Uganda, responsible for the Schistosomiasis control programme. In addition, he spent 4 years as a Principal Medical Entomologist, where he oversaw integrated vector management in the control of vector borne diseases.
Narcis enjoys teaching and manuscript writing and in his spare time, he enjoys travelling, mountaineering and football.
Neerav A Dhanani – Biostatistician
Neerav previously worked as a Chartered Accountant with experience in audit, financial management and business systems consultancy. He also holds a Master’s degree in Statistics.
Neerav’s skills include statistics, programming, Geographic Information Systems and data collection methods.
Paula Pinto Araya – Grants, Reporting and Contracting Manager
Paula is a Chilean qualified lawyer with a diploma in business administration and a Master’s degree in Social Enterprises from Goldsmiths University of London. She has diverse experience in the private and NGO sectors.
Paula is skilled in account management, having managed 30 different charitable accounts, supporting them with their grants administration and finance. She has a background working in the legal sector and is skilled in strategic planning in diverse industries, including shipping, insurance and NGOs.
Paula likes to cook, enjoys a good book and loves travelling the globe.
Shaneez Chatharoo – MER Advisor: Value for Money
Shaneez previously worked as a Research Associate in Health Economics for Sightsavers. Prior to working at Sightsavers, Shaneez completed her dissertation placement at The University of Cambridge and completed her Master’s degree in Economic Evaluation in Health Care at City, University of London. Shaneez also attained an Undergraduate degree in Pharmacology.
Shaneez brings a variety of skills, having experience in data collection methods and costing and equity analysis. Shaneez has also spent some time in the field and therefore has a great grasp of how programmes are run from the office as well as on a practical level.
You can find Shaneez at a hip-hop concert, attending an Arsenal football game where she holds a season ticket, or across the globe travelling somewhere new.
Dr Wendy E Harrison – Executive Director
Wendy trained and practised as a vet, holds a PhD in clinical pharmacology and has worked with NGOs who donated livestock to low income countries.
Wendy is skilled in comparative medicine and working across sectors. She has extensive managerial experience and has lead the way in shaping the SCI into what it is today.
Wendy loves to travel with her family and experiencing new cultures. She also has a keen interest in psychology and organisational development.
